Cedar Creek Lake Tea Party at Gun Barrel City Hall
by Martha Decker on Apr.20, 2009, under Cedar Creek Lake Life
The Tea Party at Cedar Creek Lake went off without a hitch. Except forthe male with the long brown hair plled back in a ponytail. He was taking pictures of everybody present like a few others. Then a senior citizen asked him if who he was and got no response. She was curious s she asked if he was with the paper. He stopped for a moment and then said he was with the paper. He disappeared soon after she asked him for more information. She would have bought the “paper” he was shooting for but was a little suspect. I talked to a few people that overheard the exchange and thought he was suspicious because of his actions. I don’t know of many photographers representing news media who would not want anyone to know the name of the outlet.
The City of Gun Barrel was kind enough to let the Tea Partiers use the parking lot at city hall for the event. Some of the local politicians made an appearance and spoke to individuals. Traffic came by at rush hour pace showing the support of the drivrs with a lot of horn honking.
Cedar Creek Lake was built some 30+ years ago and became populated by a lot of retired folks. Since then the population has been changing and many families with children have moved to the lake. The area has over 20,000 people within a 20 mile radius of the lake and many are active within their communities. They vote, run for office and attend everything from city council to water board meetings.
Please leave a comment. I would like to hear your thoughts about the Tea Party.

Thanks for the comment. Gun Barrel had a problematic council and city administrator in the 90’s. The council decided to not allow any comments from the public during meetings. Council meetings became interesting after that. One meeting the visitors had a city council Tea Party. Everyone brought tea bags & threw them at the council podium! Voters used their vote that May & ousted bad council members. Then the new council fired problem causing administrator.

Looks like a beautiful day for the tea party. I don’t see a single radical terrorist in the group! Looked like a great group of patriotic Americans to me, very much like the one I attended in Dallas was. Great pictures, thanks for sharing.
